Have you ever been ‘broke’? Had times when you absolutely didn’t know how you were going to make it ……. and suddenly you got a forgotten refund check or you found $10.00 in the pocket of an old coat? How on earth did you make it all these years? When you look back in desolate times, somehow……you came through.
The Israelites came through too. Right through to the Promised Land. Even though they grumbled and mumbled, were frightened and angry, the Lord loved and tended to their needs – the entire way.
He sent them manna from heaven. (Manna comes from the word – “What is it?” as it looked like dew on the ground and the Israelites had never seen anything like it) Always giving them exactly what they needed, He provided their nourishment until the very day that they could provide food for themselves. When they ate produce and grain from their own land, the manna stopped.
What makes you think He won’t provide for you when you cross the desert? Look back and see all the dew on your grass. (When your hand reached into your pocket..…. did you think….. “What is this?”)
Each of us has our own ‘desert to cross’ and each of us has the Lord to provide for our way. Even when we grumble. Even when we mumble. And even when we are frightened and angry. He has been and is and will always be with us.
Do not be afraid.
“The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land, unleavened bread and roasted grain. The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land, there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan.” Joshua 5: 11-12
