Is emptiness a way that God uses to get you to want more – be more – do more?
I’m not talking about wanting “stuff” or needing material things in your life. I’m talking about making a difference and in doing so, finding your purpose and meaning in life.
Some mornings, I have emptiness. I sit and ask God to help me understand what it is about. “How could I be empty, Lord? I have a nice home, a loving family and good friends. I have a desire to know You and serve Yo. So why am I empty?”
Then, I get that “knowing” that only comes from the Holy Spirit. I begin to understand that it is service that fills my spirit. It is encouraging others through their life that is the very “stuff” that encourages mine!
So, today, I thank you Lord for reminding me that just sitting in this house feeds my emptiness. Thank you for reminding me that you want me to get out and MOVE – to be Your hands and feet – to love those who feel unloved and encourage someone who feels loneliness. Thank you for the periods of emptiness to remind me of who I am in You, and especially to remind me of what I am here to do.
“I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go. I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8
