An example of power…..

How’s your leadership really working for you?

When you go out on the floor or within a department, do people turn or avert their eyes?  Do they disappear and you find yourself alone with a nervous supervisor?

If this is happening to you – it’s a big red flag.  You will have no clue and will be blindsided with problems ‘from out of nowhere’ and resignations you never saw coming.

When you show up, I want people to look up, smile and run towards you. I want you to be aware of problems and potential concerns.  Knowledgeable of who feels the need to look outside your company for employment and have the ‘insight’ to know why they would feel that way.

If you are in a position of power, you have to do everything within your power to develop relationships.  I have to trust that you won’t demean my spirit. I need to know that I can come to you with problems and concerns and that you will listen to me. I want you to know my name.  You may disagree with me, but you will always respect my opinions.  Your humble understanding and compassion will keep me coming back.

Jesus, who had been given ALL POWER, wrapped His coat around His waist, got on His knees and washed His disciple’s feet.  I know, His disciples didn’t get it either.

Someone trusts you enough to give you a position of power.  Now, share that power and caring that comes to you and through you to others.  Be caught up in a divine stream of leadership.

An authority on leadership, He is the Master Coach. He will never embarrasses or belittle you.  He’ll call you by name and never be in too much of a hurry to hear your concerns.  He’ll discipline you in a manner that is timely and appropriate. He will share His knowledge and wisdom to make you a better person.  He is the BIG Boss…..and yet He works to make you feel even bigger. He calls you to a position and enables you to accomplish things you never thought possible.

Now, do that for somebody and understand what true leadership is all about.  You’ll get it…….  and come to know what the disciples finally understood.

“….Do you understand what I have done for you?” He asked them….… I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”  John 13: 12-15.
