When the Soul Craves for More

My soul craves for “more.”

I’ll bet I’m not the only person who has tried everything to satisfy this “hunger” and did not initially realize that we are experiencing a spiritual hunger.

The human soul cannot be satisfied with things, food, alcohol, drugs or love affairs. Believe me, I’ve tried most of these, and they always left me in a state of spiritual starvation. These “things” are never enough and only left me hungry for more.

The soul can only be satisfied with the things of God.

Satisfaction of the soul comes from
The humbling of oneself to say, “I’m sorry.”

The tenderness of sharing when neither person feels fulfilled, or stepping back so someone else can step up.
Empathy – the bonding of spirits that knows the same pain, feels the same remorse and understands dark places and sinking fears.
The grabbing and pulling of each other out of a dark or challenging place with shouts of “You can do it!” and the whispers of “Don’t give up.”
Having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Of being close and praising Him throughout the day whether in times of joy and in or trouble.
The reading and studying of God’s Word! When you know the Truth, you can’t be lead astray in times of suffering or distress.

These are the things that nourish the soul. When the soul is fed, the rest of the body can better take on the world! When your spirit is fed, you will have the strength and discernment needed to make it everyday in this life.

The next time you are hungry, try God’s nourishment for the soul!

And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:11
