That pink pocketbook. It was still in the closet. I had bought that pocketbook with the full intention of giving it to my friend Saunder– but in the spring. I would wait. It was such a ‘spring color’ that I would just wait…..I would wait to give her the pocket book….and I thought of all of the other things I meant to do and say to her……but I would just wait. And, now I find out that she has suddently passed away.
Bewildered and saddened, I called Phyllis. “Saunder is gone and I never gave her that pink pocketbook. The one in my closet. The one I was waiting to give her.” And, from the kindness of a friend, Phyllis said to me, “You fill that pocketbook with roses and you take it to her. You give her that pocketbook.”
Did you see it? At the funeral home? There was a pink pocketbook sitting at the foot of her casket. It had dozens of pink and white rimed roses. The card………
My beloved friend,
I always meant to……have our picture made together, take you to the Meadowview Nursery and to give you this pocketbook. I miss you and love you. Wait for me……………
What are you waiting for? Tomorrow? When you get over your anger? Spring?
When you read these thoughts and an energy stirred within you to pick up the phone or get in the car – that’s your wakeup call! That is YOUR creator whispering – maybe shouting to you that the time is now. Don’t wait to make amends, to offer a gift of kindness or tell someone you are sorry or that you love them.
How many times He whispered to me…..to give her the pocketbook. Next time, I’ll listen. Fall, winter, spring or summer…….I’ll listen.
“May God be gracious to us and bless us – and make His face shine upon us
that Your ways may be known on earth…..” Psalm 67:1-2
