Some days I experience the doldrums. I don’t know what brings these emotions on. I’m sitting here this morning feeling pretty useless and wishing God would just do something to fix this!
I love the times when we have this wonderful energy and purpose! It may come when you just see the sunrise of dawn or when you have plans to visit a friend. That sweet spirit comes when you feel you have made a difference to someone or someone has made a difference in you.
I want to live in that sacred space all the time and not be in melancholic stagnation. I want more of that energy and excitement – of living life to its fullness. I know that you do too.
Here’s what else I know. That time is coming. We get glimpses of heaven on earth but the time of living in joy 24/7 won’t come until we get to heaven.
In the meantime, we cannot give up trying to create heaven on earth. We have to know whatever despondent state of mind may come, it will not last. We can hasten its death by knowing what God says about us in His Word.
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
We can move up and beyond any place of sadness by offering kindness and understanding to our sisters and brothers.
1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
So dejection – get out of my way! It may come for a visit, but it sure can’t stay. Its stint is limited on this earth because there will be a time coming where there will be no more sickness, hatred or despair. There is a time coming where our tears will be a thing of the past. We will remember that hurt no more!
Let’s live today knowing we are in this world but not of it. There is One who is all powerful and in control who will one day take us to His holy and divine place called heaven. That, my friends, will be our new home, and we will live in joy and peace 24/7.
